Yes, I’ve heard it all when it comes to the internal monologue that accompanies doing anything new:

  • Unless I’m in a yoga class, there are just too many interruptions.
  • A yoga instructor is essential for me to feel secure, responsible, and inspired.
  • I have a hard time devoting more than ten minutes to practise.
  • I’m hopeless when it comes to using gadgets.

Also, the benefits and drawbacks may vary based on the specific kind of training you engage in. A single, ideal location for all yoga practises and postures does not exist. My recommendation is to make do with what you’ve got. It’s possible you’ll be impressed by how functional your current area really is.

4. Do I need a special room for yoga? I suggest giving yoga a try if you have the luxury of a designated space in which to keep your mat unrolled. The mat is calling your name, and that may be a terrific source of motivation. However, if you lack such a location, you are still responsible. At the moment, one of my favourite pastimes is to practise in a quiet nook of my bedroom. Before each session, I spread out my yoga mat and slide the tiny bench from the foot of the bed to the side. The process of setting up my home has a calming effect on me. It’s a message to my overactive brain that it’s time to switch gears and focus on my yoga practise. Setting up my yoga studio has become a ritual in and of itself. When I’m not using it, I wrap up my yoga mat and store it away to keep the dust away.

5. When and how should I set up the required gear? Having a screen-equipped device (such a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone) and access to the internet is the very minimum need. A bigger screen will provide a better viewing experience, but if your eyes are sharp, then by all means, use your phone as a practise tool. That’s all you need for lessons whenever you want them!

➤Turn on your webcam or camera if you want to participate in a livestream lesson and want your instructor to be able to see you. Most students utilise the device’s built-in camera and simply place it far enough away to provide a good view for the instructor during practise (which is also why a laptop or iPad might be easier to see than a phone).

➤ Joining the livestream class on two different devices is a somewhat more involved arrangement, but many students find it useful. As a result, you may utilise your mobile device as a camera and bring your laptop or tablet closer for better viewing.

➤ The good news is that there is always a way to figure out the computer stuff that seems so frightening at first. Try not to be shy about approaching your instructor for assistance. It’s okay to ask for help with yoga technology; you certainly won’t be the first (or last!) student to do so.
